Parental Code of Conduct. All Leagues and Programs

As a parent or guardian of a child participating in the Ashland Youth Baseball & Softball Program, I understand the ability of the AYBS organization to complete its mission of providing a safe, educational, learning experience and enjoyable sports opportunity is dependent upon the efforts, quality and cooperation among parents, coaches, players, umpires and league officials, including coordinators and elected members of the Board of Directors.

By affixing my signature to this code of conduct or to the registration form making reference to this code, I acknowledge my role in the fulfillment of this mission and my responsibilities as a parent or guardian to comply with this code of conduct and to the AYBS constitution and bylaws.

GENERAL:

  • I will place the emotional and physical well being of players ahead of desires to win or second-guess any coach or league official in their capacity serving the youth of Ashland in the AYBS program.
     
  • I will respect the contribution of all league volunteers and extend appropriate courtesies to those in the league that volunteer their time in the interests of my child or dependent.
     
  • I will remember that my behavior at league sanctioned and non-league sanctioned events does affect my child and his/her attitude and positive playing experience.

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • Discussions and disagreements with AYBS coaches, umpires, opposing coaches or opposing spectators will be discussed with the head coach and conducted in a low level tone of voice that cannot be heard by players, spectators or umpires
    .
  • Nothing in my tone of voice or gestures/mannerisms will suggest an attempt to embarrass or intimidate a player, umpire, coach or another spectator.
     
  • As a parent/guardian, I acknowledge the responsibility of promoting sportsmanlike conduct and practicing behaviors that contribute favorably to the integrity and reputation of AYBS and its officials.
     
  • As a parent/guardian, I acknowledge the role of the Vice President Player Agent as the point of contact where concerns and issues affecting playing time or treatment of players can be directed. I also understand that I can approach any league official and the Board of Directors on any matter of concern. I also acknowledge that members of the Board likewise shall be approached in a professional manner and extended all courtesies commensurate with their role as volunteer league officials.
     
  • All players, coaches, umpires, league officials, and opposing teams will be treated with respect and dignity and an appreciation for their contributions. They will not be humiliated or intimidated.
     
  • I accept disciplinary action for misbehavior or un-sportsmanlike conduct will result in expulsion or forfeiture of a game and suspension from all league-sponsored events of AYBS for either parent(s) or guardian(s).
